Our "Super" Day

Wednesday, June 19

Well, today started out normal enough.  For us, that is.  Yesterday was our first  "official" of the trip - affectionately know as "The Adventures of Annie and the Grandkids".  In typical Ogles fashion, we didn't get away from home until after lunch. Yeah, so much for the early start.  You'd think with as many times we've done this we'd be better at it - but that's just my OCD kicking in.  With the rain (there's been a LOT of that lately), it just takes a while to get things loaded and stored.  Anyway, we finally got away and made it to Paducah Kentucky before stopping for the night.  All that made for a long day, so we took it slow.

Now for our adventures for today.  Everyone knows that Superman is from Metropolis - so we decided to make a stop and see how things are there.

The second navigator - also known as "how much longer 'til we're there"?

Our trip into Illinois across the Ohio River
which was out of its banks because of all the rain.
Oh yeah, gas prices were another reason for the stop in Paducah before going on into Illinois - $3.27 at Walmart (with  gift card discount) vs, $3.69-$3.86 in Illinois.

Then on to Metropolis!

What does Superman do now that phone booths are almost none-existent?

Everyone had to have their picture taken with the Superman cut-out.

I said everyone!

Everyone got their Superman pose on!

Then they spotted the Super Girl and had to have their pictures with it.

Well, all the little girls did.

After that, it was time for some Dippin' Dots and back on the road..........

And we saw lots of wheat

And we saw lots of corn

All of which caused Annie the Navigator to get bored.

Just a neat house in southern Illinois.

We're stopped for the night near Vandalia - not our "scheduled" stop (and I'm not supposed to use that word so don't tell Donna)- but tomorrow we might even make it on to see Mr. Lincoln's Museum in Springfield.  Maybe.
